I am another year older today. Did I learn anything this past year? Here is a sampling in no particular order:
- Taking the red eye from the west coast to the east coast, even in first class, is a really dumb thing to do.
- There is no such thing as an unbiased media: Journalism is dead. RIP.
- The folding seats that you can buy for less than $15, the ones with arms and a back that hook onto the bleachers at the ball field, are worth every penny.
- Our school’s administration is very good at making you feel better to your face and then promptly ingoring your issue as soon as you are finished talking.
- Some of the MLB ball parks are pretty old and nasty, while others are new and awesome.
- People get really grouchy when the stock market tanks.
- You really should disengage the send button if you are writing an e-mail while you are agitated.
- I have way too much stuff (okay I knew that last year, but the feeling keeps hitting me like a ton of bricks).
- It is possible to sit at a table with friends with different political views and have a civil and insightful discussion about politics even in a hot political year.
- The “best by” date on a Bisquick box is for real.
- I passed the stress test so there is no excuse for me not to exercise.
- Birthdays aren’t as fun as they used to be, but having Mom make your birthday dinner is still the best!
Happy Birthday…and thanks for the Bisquick tip!
