Happy Birthday to Me!

I am another year older today.  Did I learn anything this past year?  Here is a sampling in no particular order:

1. Taking the red eye from the west coast to the east coast, even in first class, is a really dumb thing to do.
2. There is no such thing as an unbiased media:  Journalism is dead. RIP.
3. The folding seats that you can buy for less than $15, the ones with arms and a back that hook onto the bleachers at the ball field, are worth every penny. 
4. Our school’s administration is very good at making you feel better to your face and then promptly ingoring your issue as soon as you are finished talking.
5. Some of the MLB ball parks are pretty old and nasty, while others are new and awesome.
6. People get really grouchy when the stock market tanks.
7. You really should disengage the send button if you are writing an e-mail while you are agitated.
8. I have way too much stuff (okay I knew that last year, but the feeling keeps hitting me like a ton of bricks).
9. It is possible to sit at a table with friends with different political views and have a civil and insightful discussion about politics even in a hot political year.
10. The “best by” date on a Bisquick box is for real.
11. I passed the stress test so there is no excuse for me not to exercise.
12. Birthdays aren’t as fun as they used to be, but having Mom make your birthday dinner is still the best!
